Oslo finally pt.1
"Tomorrow" has come finally:)
Unfortunately, the B&W film got strips again:/ I have no idea what is wrong with the process (the color developed in lab is OK). I tried:
- different developer
- new fixer
- different way of tank loading
and nothing... this time 2 films wasted;[ (1 from Bronica and 1 from Holga).
The only thing left to try is a different tank...so I just bought new one (I was going to do it anyway, as my old one was leaking a bit). I hope it will help...
Anyway, here are some slides:
and some samples from the damned B&Ws:
PS if somebody is good in food photography I am willing to put some beers in exchange for some knowledge...:)

Pentland hills
Finally I managed to scan the roll from a hike almost a month ago... I have stupidly opened a back with the film so only a few images survived:/ Here are 3 of them:
I'm fed with my research proposal... so I'm scanning the pictures from Oslo now - expect them tomorrow!

Light leak??
I developed a roll of HP5 shot on Friday... and all images are affected by mysterious strips;[ It happens second time, although the pattern is different (one roll has regular vertical, lightly skewed strips, on the other the strips goes radially in a fan shape...).
Any ideas what that might be? My guesses: light leak (I checked the backs and the seals are fine; besides, the lines are slightly diagonal and previous film was OK), me doing something wrong during development (but I did everything as usual - and all previous rolls are clean), or something wrong with the film itself (but 2 different films, from 2 different sources... no way)
There was light leak on the sides(cropped out) caused by paper backing being too narrow... so it was not protecting the film properly on the spool - shame on you Ilford!
Examples - shot under the same conditions, with the same settings - one with clear strips, the other one (2 frames earlier) almost clean...

no time to post....
Well,
I am still writing my proposal... at least now I know what I am going to do - automatic image annotation (in short: given 10000s of images create informative and correct labels and captions for them).
You probably do not want to see the Maths behind it;]]] I am going to meet with some *really* clever guys who developed theories behind state-of-the-art image systems, so I have to read *deeply* almost 100 journal articles (500 pages!) to be prepared;/
Anyway, I was hiking with my friends today... It was supposed to be a short walk - we ended up with almost 5 hours long march through snow and ice... The films are not processed yet, unfortunately, so I will just post something old (but also snowy and icy) from Oslo, Norway, 2007;]

First one...
OK, so I created a blog...
It is going to be partially photographic, partially not ;] From time to time, I am going to throw in something interesting about the research I am involved in (also related to imaging), or general informatics stuff.
I am finishing my research proposal - so no time for taking photos... anyways here are some from testing of my new toy - Bronica SQ-A ;]
